Network Evaluation, Design and Implementation

The infrastructure in IT ecosystems is the engine that drives operations. For all businesses and government agencies, public expectations for faster and efficient services combined with the adoption of new tools and platforms, require these organizations to upgrade and consolidate their network infrastructure.

Outdated and aging infrastructures affect business operations, can slow recovery efforts after a disaster, are costly to repair due to outdated parts, and are more expensive for IT managers to operate and manage.

Our Professional Services Team offer provides a team of IT professionals, engineers and technicians that can be leveraged to plan, design, implement or support your organization's network infrastructure.

Network Evaluation

Timing is critical. That’s why we complete your Network Review within weeks — combining both onsite and remote services to evaluate your environment, report findings, and document recommendations.

This process includes:

  • Pre-visit calls to get started.
  • Up to three days of on site evaluation—examining core wireless infrastructure and
  • interviewing key stakeholders about the current infrastructure, configurations, and practices.
  • A formal Readiness Report generated using the onsite evaluation, internal research, and reviews.
  • Review of the Readiness Report with your team to discuss key findings and recommendations.
  • Relevant follow-ups to transfer important knowledge to your IT personnel and plan next steps, as needed.

Areas covered:

  • Spectrum analysis
  • Coverage areas, cell power, channel properties, and roaming boundaries
  • Network configuration, IP addressing, VLAN assignments, security rules, and dependencies
  • Platform analysis (routers, switches, firewalls, access points, cabling, and servers)
  • Discovery of your requirements for performance, scalability, redundancy, security, and compliance.
  • Packet capture (if needed)
  • Throughput (if needed)

Design

Based on the network evaluation results, our team will present different hardware solutions and architectures to improve upon your existing infrastructure. There is no singular solution and with MBS' offerings, we strive to provide solutions that will create an efficient and cost-effective solutions that adjusts to your budget and resources.

We offer over 20+ vendors and cloud solutions that can assist you in replacing aging infrastructure. Ingram Micro Cloud offers a comprehensive portfolio of cloud services designed to address the business needs of small and midsize businesses. Our team is knowledgeable in emerging technologies that are cost effective and innovative, while being backed by well-stablished vendors whom will support your system for many years to come.

Common steps:

  • Create a detailed new network topology, considering redundancy and failover capabilities.
  • Develop a phased migration plan to minimize disruptions.
  • Establish rollback plans for each migration step.

Implementation

Replacing a company's network infrastructure while minimizing downtime requires meticulous planning and execution. Several stages mut be completed before, during and after the work is done in order to successfully deploy the new network while keeping backup and rollback plans ready to execute in case unexpected challenges arise during this step.

Common steps:

  • Procurement: Order all necessary hardware, software licenses, and accessories.
  • Staging: Stage and preconfigure equipment off-site to replicate as closely as possible the existing or planned environment.
  • Pre-testing: Conduct extensive off-site testing of configurations and equipment.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with management, vendors and end-users to schedule tech support and downtime windows.
  • Backup: Ensure all critical data and configurations are fully backed up.
  • Execution: Execute incrementally during non-peak hours or weekends to minimize impact, validating each phase before proceeding to the next.
  • Post-testing: Verify end-to-end connectivity and performance, test critical services, including voice/video, web services, cloud applications, and security features.
  • Monitoring: Closely monitor network performance and be ready to adjust configurations for several days post-migration.
  • Documentation: Update all network documentation and IT staff training materials to reflect changes made.
  • Support: Establish ongoing support and maintenance routines.

By following a structured and careful approach, we can significantly reduce the risks and downtime associated with replacing your network infrastructure. MBS has more than 35 years of experience serving both enterprise and government agencies alike, with many customers still using our serves after decades since they started partnering with us.
